Five new directors have been appointed to the board of LandCorp - the Western Australian Land Authority.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan made the appointments following the expiry of the terms of six members of the State Government's land development agency's board.
The new deputy chairperson will be Barbara Wiese, a Perth-based public relations consultant and former Minister in the South Australian Government.
Other appointees are:

  • Sydney Corser, a co-founder of Pacesetter Homes;
  • business consultant Ross Bowe, a former Western Australian Under Treasurer;
  • lawyer Carolyn Tan; and
  • communications and marketing executive John Carlson.
LandCorp chairman Ross Hughes has agreed to a six-month extension of his term so he can assure a proper handover to the new team.
John Martin, who was appointed to a two-year term in January last year, remains on the board.
"The new board has strong commercial and financial credentials that will be invaluable to LandCorp, which has an important role in WA's continued growth," Ms MacTiernan said.

"LandCorp will play a pivotal role in many of the Planning and Infrastructure Portfolio's activities."
The retiring board members are deputy chairperson Celia Searle, Stuart Morgan, Dr Des Kelly, Richard Muirhead and Dr Jim Limerick.
Ms MacTiernan paid tribute to the retiring board members, all of whom had given long and valuable service to the agency, some since LandCorp's inception in 1992.
"The board has overseen LandCorp's development into an innovative and effective agency meeting the State's land development needs," she said.
