Members of the Legislative Council of State Parliament have paid tribute to an illustrious career that spanned 27 years of public service.
Yesterday's Parliamentary session was marked by tributes to the late Hon Leslie Arthur Logan, who served in the Legislative Council from 1947 to 1973.
Hon Les Logan was a Cabinet Minister for 12 years, from 1959 to 1971, in the Coalition Government led by Sir David Brand.
During that period he held three portfolios simultaneously - Local Government, Town Planning and Child Welfare.
Outside the Parliament Mr Logan was a tireless contributor to the advancement of the Mid-West region through various sporting organisations, community groups and agricultural societies.
The State Government's Leader in the Upper House, Agriculture Minister and Agricultural Region MLC Kim Chance, led the tributes to Mr Logan, describing his rise from humble beginnings through war service to high office and a lasting contribution to the State.
Agricultural Region MLC Murray Criddle and Mining and Pastoral Region MLC Norman Moore also offered praise for Mr Logan.
Mr Logan's passing, which occurred in December, was marked yesterday in the chamber by a minute's silence.
