Mineral titles searches made easier
31/10/02
Carrying out a mining tenement search in Western Australia is now a lot easier, thanks to the launch of the Mineral Titles On-Line announced today by State Development Minister Clive Brown.
Mineral Titles On-Line is a new titles information system that allows Internet access to the State's mining titles information.
It also displays complete tenement register information on tenements captured by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources MiTiS (Mineral Titles System).
Mr Brown said Internet access to mining titles information was a godsend to resource companies, particularly mineral explorers.
"Instead of companies sending a fax requesting photocopies of tenement information, the results of which are posted out to them, company representatives can now have titles information at their fingertips," he said.
"A mining titles search now only takes a few minutes, instead of hours or days."
Mineral Titles On-Line is linked to and complements the already popular TENGRAPH On-line database that displays mining tenement boundaries relative to other land information.
"It will eventually supersede the current Tendex database, once all of the State's tenement data has been digitally captured," Mr Brown said.
Since June, 700 users have registered to use Mineral Titles On-Line with more than 800 tenement searches completed.
"Mineral Titles On-Line is another example of how the State is helping the resources industry through the implementation of innovative information technology initiatives," the Minister said.
Tenement holders will also be able to make their rental payments via the Internet soon, once enhancements to the system have been completed.
