The new Park 'n' Ride facility in Murdoch is now back open for business to assist public transport commuters in the area.
Minister responsible for Public Transport Michelle Roberts said the recent redevelopment not only created a more user-friendly approach to accessing public transport, but had also eased car-parking problems.
"We have increased the number of car parking bays at the facility from 631 to 856, creating an extra 225 car bays," she said.
"At the very least, this will mean that 225 extra vehicles will be able to reap the benefits of being able to access fast and efficient bus services from this facility.
"If people use car pooling as an option to travel to the facility, this figure can be dramatically increased."
Park 'n' Ride facilities throughout Perth have proven to be very popular with the community, providing easy access to our public transport system.
"During peak hour, Transperth bus services leave Murdoch Park 'n' Ride every five minutes taking only eleven minutes to reach the city," she said.
"With this type of service, it is easy to understand why the facility is so popular."
The design of the new Murdoch Park 'n' Ride area has created a safer, more secure environment for commuters and car park traffic.
"As part of this redevelopment project, we have installed overhead lighting and security cameras which will improve safety and security throughout the facility," Mrs Roberts said.
