Minister officially opens new Skywest call centre
14/8/02
Skywest's call centre is now officially operating, following the opening last week by the Minister for the Kimberley, Pilbara and Gascoyne, Tom Stephens.
Mr Stephens commended Skywest for its continued commitment to strengthen service to regional air travellers in Western Australia, as well as creating 10 new jobs within the company.
"Having a viable aviation system is crucial to regional WA and Skywest is a vital part of our regional infrastructure," he said.
Located at Skywest's head office in the Perth Domestic terminal, the new call centre will handle flight inquiries and take bookings for WA customers seven days a week from 7am to 7pm WST on 1300 66 00 88.
The call centre marks Skywest's final withdrawal from its temporary call centre facility in Tasmania. The company was forced to use this by the administrators following the Ansett collapse last September.
The Minister applauded Skywest for its ability to stay open and operate with relatively little disruption to the general public.
He said that now Skywest was a wholly-owned Western Australian company, the decision to establish a facility in Perth was made with the best interest of WA customers in mind.
