Minister rules out car parking fees for Kings Park

Environment Minister Judy Edwards today ruled out the introduction of any car parking fees at Kings Park.
A five-year, draft management plan for the park released by the Botanic Gardens and Park Authority had flagged the potential introduction of fees for security car parking.
Dr Edwards said no fees would be introduced under the State Government.
"The simple reality is Kings Park is not just an icon attraction for tourists but is highly treasured by the local community - and the Government has no intention of making Western Australians pay for the experience of enjoying the park," Dr Edwards said.
"As the Minister responsible for approving the final plan, any proposal for car parking fees will not be accepted.
"It will not happen."
