Tourism Minister Bob Kucera today welcomed Qantas' announcement of two new domestic routes between Sydney and Broome and Cairns and Perth.
"These new services are great news for Western Australia, and should deliver a significant boost to the tourism industry," Mr Kucera said.
The routes are scheduled to start in April.
"The twice weekly service between Cairns and Perth will provide WA with a direct link to and from some of Australia's most popular holiday destinations, and an important international hub," Mr Kucera said.
"The new services will open up a whole range of international itinerary opportunities for Perth and Cairns, particularly from Japan and Hong Kong.
"They will also complement the existing Qantas Perth/Tokyo and recently announced Perth/Hong Kong services, and provide mixed itinerary options using Perth and Cairns."
The new weekly service between Sydney and Broome would provide greater interstate and international access to the Kimberley.
"Qantas will now have direct flights operating between Broome and Perth, Alice Springs, Melbourne and Sydney," the Minister said.
This latest news follows recent announcements of non-stop Qantas domestic services between Canberra and Perth and Perth and Kununurra and non-stop international services between Perth and Hong Kong.
"Increasing air access into and around WA remains a key priority for the State Government," Mr Kucera said.
"While there are still gaps to fill, we are seeing strong gains in aviation that will benefit the State.
"Qantas are to be congratulated for their ongoing commitment to WA tourism."
