New OnlineWA feature shows what's on in WA
25/5/02
People looking to find out what's on in Western Australia now have a central point to find out about coming events, thanks to a new feature on the award-winning OnlineWA website.
A new calendar of events - What's on WA? - has been added to the OnlineWA site at http://www.onlinewa.com.au
State Development Minister Clive Brown said the new feature arose following requests from event co-ordinators and community groups for a centralised online location to help publicise coming events.
"The OnlineWA site was designed to be responsive to community needs, and many of the links are a direct result of community requests," Mr Brown said.
The Minister said What's on WA? was already proving popular and during its three-month trial, it was the third most visited OnlineWA page - after the Lotto results and the weather.
To ensure the information is relevant, the site is updated weekly.
Mr Brown said events promoted on What's on WA? must be linked to a parent website containing further details of the activity.
He said there was also a requirement that events earmarked for What's on WA? catered to the wider WA community, rather than narrowly-based, special interest groups.
The multi-award winning OnlineWA portal provides a one-stop shop for Government information and community services, and is maintained by the Department of Industry and Technology.
The What's on WA? calendar of events can be viewed by going to the OnlineWA homepage at http://www.onlinewa.com.au and clicking the What's on WA? icon in the bottom right of the screen.
