New chairman and directors for Water Corporation

State Cabinet has endorsed the appointment of Perth businessman Tim Ungar as chairman of the board of the Water Corporation.
Government Enterprises Minister Nick Griffiths said Mr Ungar, who was currently a director of the Water Corporation, would continue to bring substantial corporate expertise and high-level leadership skills to the corporation.
Mr Ungar, who is also the chairman of Telecommunications Services Australia, has had experience in the management of capital projects which will provide the corporation with a valuable insight into commercial and strategic issues.
He will take up the position from January 1, 2003.
Mr Griffiths thanked outgoing chairman Hon Peter Jones AM for his outstanding contribution to the Water Corporation.
"Mr Jones was invited by the former State Government to become the inaugural chairman of the newly created Water Corporation in 1995," he said.
"Over the years he has served in that role, Mr Jones has provided substantial leadership to the corporation, and has helped position the Water Corporation as a pivotal organisation in the development of Western Australia's water strategy."
The Minister thanked outgoing directors Ms Eva Skira and Mr Donald Young.
"Ms Skira and Mr Young have made a significant contribution to the Western Australian community through their service as directors of the Water Corporation," he said.
"Their efforts are sincerely appreciated."
Mr Griffiths also announced the appointment of new directors Ms Tracey Horton, Mr Patrick O'Connor, and Dr Penelope Flett.
Mr O'Connor is an executive with Churchill Capital Pty Ltd. He has extensive experience in capital raising projects, strategic management and board representation on public and private companies.
Ms Horton is a director of Poynton and Partners and GEM Consulting. She has extensive national and international expertise in corporate growth strategy, sales and business unit strategy, operational improvement and organisational development.
Dr Flett is the chief executive officer of the Brightwater Care Group Inc. She has achieved numerous awards for her business achievements, including 1998 Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year, Telstra WA Business Woman of the Year and Telstra WA Business Awards.
Mr Griffiths said the new directors would bring substantial expertise to the board of the Water Corporation.
