Finance industry leader Terry Budge has been appointed the new chairman of the State Government's land development specialist, LandCorp.
Mr Budge, a former group managing director of BankWest, will take over from retiring chairman Neil Hamilton on January 15.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said Mr Budge had a strong background in management and would bring strong strategic planning and leadership skills to his new appointment.
"Terry has a 30-year career in the banking industry, with senior management experience at both the National Australia Bank and BankWest," Ms MacTiernan said.
"More importantly, he has a strong track record both in strategic planning and corporate governance and led BankWest through a period of restructuring and great challenges.
"He will be a valuable addition to the board of LandCorp, which operates in an increasingly complex business environment and is moving to a much more commercial footing following recent changes to its governing legislation."
Ms MacTiernan said Mr Budge had also held a number of industry leadership roles, including State President of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and State President of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.
He was also on the Senate of Murdoch University.
The Minister thanked Mr Hamilton for his efforts as chairman during the past two and a half years.
"Mr Hamilton provided strong stewardship during a period of significant change for LandCorp," she said.
"During this time, LandCorp has raised the bar in pursuing sustainable development and has worked hard to strengthen links with industry and State and local governments.

"LandCorp has also seen the successful passage of legislative amendments that will open up new challenges and opportunities in the year ahead.
"These successes are due in no small part to the leadership of Mr Hamilton and his board."
Ms MacTiernan also thanked board member John Martin, who had retired after four years on the board.
The Minister said Mr Martin had provided the benefit of long experience at the highest levels of the property industry.
