A new ferry landing facility on Fremantle's Victoria Quay will make it easier for passengers on Swan River cruises to visit the port city's attractions.

Planning and Infrastructure Minister, Alannah MacTiernan said Fremantle Port's O'Connor Landing was part of the Fremantle Waterfront development taking shape at the western end of Victoria Quay.
"O'Connor Landing gives cruise operators another incentive to add a visit to Fremantle to their tour programs," Ms MacTiernan said.
"The new facility is conveniently located next to the train station and close to the E-shed Markets and the central business district.
"It is also very close to the Maritime Museum, which is expected to open in December and draw hundreds of thousands of visitors each year."
The improved ferry berth, built by Fremantle Ports at a cost of $1million including the parking facilities, has an electrically operated ramp, which can be adjusted in height to accommodate approved ferries of different sizes.
The landing, named in honour of Inner Harbour designer, C Y O'Connor, is between B and C berths, opposite the E-Shed Markets.
Captain Cook Cruises has entered into a licensing agreement with Fremantle Ports to use the landing, and it is envisaged that licences will be negotiated with other ferry operators in the future. Several Rottnest ferries will also continue to use this part of Victoria Quay.
Other elements of the Fremantle Waterfront project currently planned include a proposed Commercial Precinct, realignment of the freight rail line closer to the passenger line, and construction of a new public access road and pedestrian/cycleway to the west end of Victoria Quay, using the land currently occupied by the rail line.
