New houses for Cloverdale
20/8/03
The construction of six single-storey brick and tile town houses in the Perth suburb of Cloverdale will provide a welcome boost to public housing stocks.
Housing and Works Minister Nick Griffiths said the two three-bedroom and four two-bedroom units are to be constructed on the corner of Sydenham and Keymer Streets.
"The 2,965sqm site was created from an amalgamation of four separate sites," Mr Griffiths said.
The Minister said the Gallop Government was delivering a fairer deal for all Western Australians by ensuring they had reasonable access to affordable housing.
"Situated less than eight kilometres from Perth's city centre, the units will be a short drive to Belmont Forum, local cinemas, recreational facilities and Perth Airport," he said.
"Belmay Primary School is a short walk away."
Three different face brick and roof tile colour schemes have been chosen by Perth based Franco Carozzi Architects.
Each unit has a different entrance feature portico and gutters with trim colours varied to generate individuality.
All units have a front porch, rear porch for outdoor living, an attached carport, comfortable yard areas and an individual store room.
The project, costing $535,405 has been awarded to Kalgoorlie Boulder Building Contractors and will be managed by the Department of Housing and Works.
The units are scheduled for completion in February, 2004.
