New houses for Homeswest tenants at Glendalough
17/12/03
Seven double-storey brick and tile townhouses are to be built for Homeswest to accommodate single people in the Glendalough area.
Housing and Works Minister Nick Griffiths said today a 1950s brick and tile house was demolished to make way for the townhouses, which would be constructed on the site at 3 Rawlins Street.
The area is zoned R60 for high-density housing.
"Situated less than eight kilometres from Perth's city centre, the units will be a short drive to Glendalough railway station," Mr Griffiths said.
The architect who designed the units was Brian Adcroft from Adcroft Architects.
The townhouses project was awarded to BGC Construction at a total of $564,080.
The project will be managed by the Department of Housing and Works and is due to start in mid-February for completion in September, 2004.
The Minister said the Gallop Government was delivering a fairer deal for all Western Australians by ensuring they had reasonable access to affordable housing.
