New manager for Exmouth Visitor Centre
9/12/03
Mr Stephen Boyd, a long-term business operator in the Gascoyne, has been appointed the new manager of the Exmouth Visitor Centre.
Gascoyne Minister Tom Stephens said Mr Boyd would implement the new business plan, budget and operating strategy adopted by the centre's membership.
"Mr Boyd's wealth of experience in the aviation servicing and travel service industries makes him an ideal person to drive the change needed for the centre," Mr Stephens said.
"He was selected from a field of national and international applicants by the visitors centre's management committee.
"Mr Boyd will oversee a rejuvenation of the community-based visitor centre and make it more effective in serving tourists and supporting tourism businesses in Exmouth.
"More than 100 small businesses operate directly in the North West Cape tourism industry and at least 60 other businesses rely on the boost that thousands of tourists gives the local economy each year."
The centre's new business plan was developed by its staff and management with support from the Gascoyne Development Commission.
Mr Boyd will take up his new appointment today, December 9.
