New members appointed to Water and Rivers Commission Board

Environment Minister Judy Edwards today announced the appointment of three new members to the Water and Rivers Commission Board.
Dr Edwards said she was pleased to announce Verity Allan as the new chair and Tony Allen and Jane Madgwick as new members.
"I would like to congratulate the new members on their appointment and look forward to working with them," the Minister said.
"Ms Allan has a strong background in urban planning and community relations, which I am sure will be of great benefit to the position."
Deputy chair Jos Chatfield and member Rod Willox will remain on the board, with Des Kelly continuing as member until the end of the year when he retires.
"I would also like to thank retiring chair Ken Webster for his leadership over the past six years and outgoing board member Des Kelly, who has provided valuable expertise since his appointment in 1999," Dr Edwards said.
The Water and Rivers Commission Board will continue to operate until legislation to form the new Department of Environment is passed by Parliament.
The board will then be disbanded and members will continue to serve on the new Water Resources Council.
