Every Western Australian baby born this year will receive a special 175th anniversary Commemorative Certificate, Premier Geoff Gallop announced today.
The certificate, signed by the Premier and the Governor, will be issued to the approximately 22,000 babies expected to be born this year.
Dr Gallop said the anniversary year provided an important opportunity for the State to showcase the history, heritage and achievements of all Western Australians.
"As part of the anniversary celebrations, every child born in 2004 will receive a 175th Commemorative Certificate to mark the special year in which they were born," he said.
The WA Constitutional Centre will issue the certificates, which will be sent four weeks after a baby's birth is registered with the Registry of Deaths, Births and Marriages.
Children born in the last two-and-a-half months will receive their certificate by mail in the next month.
