No 'Trackside' for TAB
1/6/04
Racing and Gaming Minister Nick Griffiths said today he wished to put the record straight concerning media reports that Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) was about to introduce a new betting product to TABs throughout the State.
"'Trackside' is a video-presented, electronically simulated race, upon which the usual bet types of Win -Place -Trifecta can be placed at fixed odds," Mr Griffiths said.
"It is not a gaming or poker machine but is considered a casino game in all States except Victoria and Tasmania.
"The State Government will not grant approval for the game to be played outside the Burswood Casino."
The Minister said RWWA spent $17,500 in February, 2002 on researching 'Trackside'.
"The matter has not progressed beyond the research stage and there are no plans to progress the matter," he said.
