The Pastoral Lands Board will be making a recommendation to the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure Alannah MacTiernan next week, regarding future lease arrangements at Windidda Station.
The issue was discussed this week by the Pastoral Lands Board in a meeting with the Minister.
Ms MacTiernan announced today that once she received the Board's recommendation, she would make a decision by the end of the month about whether to proceed with forfeiture of the Windidda Community's Pastoral Lease.
"I have indicated to the Pastoral Lands Board that I would consider deferring any forfeiture action in order to give the Windidda Community an opportunity to demonstrate that it can implement an acceptable management plan for the station," she said.
"In the interim, only minimal re-stocking would be permitted.
"The Windidda Community must demonstrate that it can and will accept responsibility for the welfare of animals in its charge."
