Public invited to comment on Business Enterprise Centre review
23/1/04
Small Business Minister Bob Kucera has called for public comment on a report reviewing the Business Enterprise Centre network.
Mr Kucera said the Small Business Development Corporation had commissioned a report that examined the structure and operations of the State's 37 BECs and made recommendations for the network's future.
"The review process is designed to help determine the future shape and strategic direction of BECs in Western Australia in the next five years," he said.
Business Enterprise Centres provide support such as business counselling, referrals and information to existing and potential business in a local area. They are managed by a volunteer committee that employs a full-time centre manager.
Mr Kucera said the Government was in the process of formulating its response to the report's recommendations.
"Feedback from interested people or organisations on the key recommendations contained in the report will be an important factor in informing our response," he said.
The report 'Communities of Enterprise: Future strategies for the Business Enterprise Centres Network of Western Australia' was produced by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Management and Innovation at the University of WA.
Copies of the report are available from the Small Business Development Corporation's Aaron deRozario on 9220 0222 (email: aaron@sbdc.com.au) or download it from http://www.sbdc.com.au/becreview
