Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) now have a direct link to the Department of Training following today's launch of RTO Net, an Internet-based resource.
Training Minister John Kobelke announced the new system today at the opening of the Training Forum 2002 - Hands on Training Packages Conference at the Burswood International Resort Convention Centre.
About 600 people from the vocational education and training sector (VET) will attend the two-day conference organised by the Department of Training and opened by the Minister.
"The introduction of RTO Net means Registered Training Organisations, which have previously dealt with a number of areas within the Department, now have a single direct link," Mr Kobelke said.
"RTO Net is a direct link to all systems within the Department of Training through one gateway.
"Now Registered Training Organisations can see their details contained in the State Training and Recognition System (STARS) by accessing RTO Net.
"Registered Training Organisations can also view all the information about them held by the Training Accreditation Council (TAC) and the Department, including the qualifications/courses they registered to deliver and their contact details.
"They can also view information about trainees and apprentices through the Training Records System (TRS) and keep track of the qualifications and courses they are contracted to provide."
Mr Kobelke said that the Training Forum 2002 - Hands on Training Packages Conference was part of the Department of Training's strategy to continuously improve quality in teaching, learning and assessment in the vocational education and training (VET) system.
The forum will showcase innovation and promote continuous improvement.
