Rally Australia secure on World Rally Championship calendar

Tourism Minister Clive Brown today announced that the World Motor Sport Council meeting in Paris confirmed Western Australia will host Telstra Rally Australia in 2003.
Mr Brown said an agreement between the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) and the State Government was ratified at today's meeting, securing the Australian round of the FIA World Rally Championship for WA.
"We are delighted to have WA's largest event, Telstra Rally Australia, secure on the World Rally Championship calendar," he said.
"We have worked together with CAMS to ensure Rally Australia stays in WA and we are pleased that all is resolved.
"It is fantastic news for the tourism industry in WA and indeed for every rally fan in Australia.
"The dedicated team organising the event has been busy preparing for September and we all look forward to hosting another world class motor sport event in WA."
Rally Australia will be held in Perth and surrounding areas from September 4-7, 2003.
