Some 38km of road through three southern regions will be improved with bitumen sealing works early in the New Year.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said today Pioneer Road Services had been awarded a $828,145 contract for bitumen sealing works in the South West, Great Southern and Wheatbelt South Regions.
The sealing works will cover the following sections of highway and main roads:
South Western Highway - 6.5km at the Parry Beach Section located between Denmark and Walpole.
South Western Highway - 4.5km between Wokalup and Benger and near Hynes Road north of Picton.
Boyanup - Picton Road - 2.5km located to the north of Dardanup.
Northam - Cranbrook Road - 2.5km between Beverley and Brookton.
Narrogin - Kondinin Road - 8km between Wickepin and Kulin.
Pinjarra - Williams Road - 3.5km near Williams.
Williams - Darkan Road - 10.5km between Williams and Darkan.
The sealing work will commence in mid-January and finish in late March.
Ms. MacTiernan said application of the new seal would prolong the life of the particular sections of road by ensuring water did not penetrate through the surface.
Application of the new chip seal would also enhance safety for road users by improving vehicle skid resistance.
