Western Australians are urged to dig deep and support the Red Cross annual doorknock campaign, launched today by Tourism Minister Bob Kucera.
Mr Kucera, representing the Premier, kicked off the campaign by presenting the Red Cross with a State Government cheque for $25,000.
The Minister said the money would assist the Red Cross in supporting a wide range of programs, ranging from disaster and emergency relief, to first aid courses and visitor schemes.
"I ask all Western Australians to dig deep this year and support this extremely important appeal," he said.
"Many of us remember the work done by the Red Cross during the aftermath of the Bali Bombings.
"Some of us may also know that the Red Cross allocated funds to drought stricken communities in our rural and regional areas.
"What is most important to keep in mind, however, is that without community support, the Red Cross would not be able to do the important work that it does."
