State Government initiative provides web access for South-West businesses

More than three in four South-West businesses and over 2,500 community groups now have a web presence through the South-West's newly-upgraded web portal: http://mysouthwest.com.au.
Officially launching the new-look site in Bunbury today, South-West Minister Mark McGowan said the new site provided a state-of-the art web presence for the region.
"The mysouthwest portal is just one of the results delivered under the Government's South-West Online policy commitment, which was an initiative to drive the uptake of Internet technology within the South-West," Mr McGowan said.
The Minister said 84 per cent of small businesses in the South-West had improved their web presence by being part of the new http://mysouthwest.com.au portal, which allowed them access to an online purchasing facility with a secure banking and shopping facility.
"The project is an excellent example of what can be achieved when Government, the community and business work together," he said.
"The South-West is experiencing strong economic growth and it is important that businesses and community groups are able to capitalise on that through a web presence.
"This initiative is part of our commitment to improve services to all Western Australians, no matter where they live."
