Swan Health Service's commitment to patient care rewarded

Hills residents can have great confidence in the quality of local health services, following the presentation of four-year accreditation to Swan Health Service today.
Health Minister Bob Kucera, who made the presentation, said the accreditation recognised the high quality of care given to patients and reflected a commitment by staff to continual quality improvement.
It is Swan Health Service's third accreditation and its first full four-year accreditation from the Australian Council on Health Care Standards (ACHS).
"The community now has even more reason to be confident about the high standard of services that are provided by the Swan Health Service," Mr Kucera said.
"It is to the credit of all Swan's administrators and staff that such determination has been reflected in the quest for excellence and high standards."
Mr Kucera said ACHS surveyors addressed a broad range of criteria during the rigorous accreditation process.
Swan Health Service won commendations in the areas of human resource management, information management and safe practice procedures.
"Other areas which were highly praised included services in child health projects, customer focus, community health services and specific services for the aged," the Minister said.
"A special mention was also made of the staff participation in quality and better practice activities."
Mr Kucera said Swan Health Service would continue to meet the needs of patients and their families.
The accreditation covered the whole of the Swan Health Service, including Swan District Hospital, mental health, primary health and corporate services.
