Approval for temporary TAB facilities at the Esperance Racecourse on Melbourne Cup day has been granted by Racing and Gaming Minister Nick Griffiths.
Mr Griffiths said the TAB provided mobile agencies for high profile events such as the Melbourne Cup, international cricket matches at the WACA and other high profile sporting events that catered for a high demand.
"Under legislation, Ministerial approval is needed for racing clubs that don't race on Melbourne Cup day to provide a betting service," he said.
"The Melbourne Cup is just a month away. The Esperance Bay Turf Club has requested a temporary TAB so that it can organise a social event to coincide with the day and provide a betting service on the day.
"I have granted approval for a temporary agency at the Kalgoorlie-Racing club on November 6 for a function to be held at the racecourse at the Esperance Showgrounds."

Mr Griffiths said the TAB would provide a totalisator service at the racetrack via the on-course totalisator equipment.
