Taxi review comes to Albany

A public meeting will be held in Albany this week as part of a review into taxi services in country areas.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the meeting would be a good opportunity for taxi drivers, taxi owners, taxi users and the general community to contribute to the review.
"The country taxi industry has a reputation of providing, by and large, good service and we don't anticipate any major structural changes," Ms MacTiernan said.
"There is, however, always the opportunity to improve and this review will identify areas where changes can be made."
The review - consistent with Federal Government requirements under the National Competition Policy - is expected to take four months, and would be undertaken by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, Hon Ken Travers MLC.
Mr Travers would attend the meeting in Albany and people could also meet with him on a 'one-to-one' basis during his visit.
"Mr Travers is travelling to the regions and taking the opportunity to meet with members of the industry and its customers first-hand," Ms MacTiernan said.
"This will ensure we know and understand the issues that the industry faces and how steps can be taken to improve service within the industry."
The Albany meeting will be held on Friday, November 7, in the Flinders Room, Esplanade Hotel, Adelaide Crescent (corner Flinders Parade), Albany. The public meeting will take place from 9am to 11am, and private sessions will commence at 11:30 am.
