Bob the Builder, Aladdin, goat shearers, wood choppers and German beer will all make an appearance at this year's Perth Royal Show.
With only a few weeks to go, Tourism Minister Bob Kucera today officially launched the 2003 Perth Royal Show at the Claremont Showgrounds.
"The Perth Royal Show is Western Australia's largest community event and one of the State's most visited tourist attractions," Mr Kucera said.
"It's a great day out for the family and caters for everyone's tastes and interests."
Each year the show plays host to a guest town and this year Collie will showcase its wonderful attractions which include aquaculture, motor sports, wine making and tourism.
For the second year running the show will also host a guest nation.
"This year we are very fortunate to host Germany, Australia's 17th largest trading partner and our eighth largest international tourist market," Mr Kucera said.
"German companies will provide special exhibitions of the country's commerce and culture.
"There will be traditional folk dancing and classical musical by two bands flown in from Germany. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the atmosphere of a caf? serving traditional German fare and beer.
"A German film crew, sponsored by the Western Australian Tourism Commission, will capture the action for German television.
"The Perth Royal Show therefore extends beyond WA and provides a window for interstate and overseas visitors to see what this State has to offer."
More than 400,000 people were expected to pass through the gates between September 27 and October 4, 2003.
With 42 competitions, 650 entertainers, 15,000 animals and 570 displays there will be plenty to see and do for all members of the family.
"Each year I am delighted with the new and exciting things on offer at the Show, which proves the richness and diversity of our State," Mr Kucera said.
