Western Australian fine wood furniture is set to make its mark on the vast South Korean market as a result of a WA Government trade mission to the nation of 48 million people.
Deputy Premier Eric Ripper, who is leading the 34-member business mission arriving in Seoul today, said WA hardwoods were well received by Korean consumers.
Mr Ripper said 10 container loads of WA jarrah had been used in the construction of the prestigious Samsung Art Gallery in Seoul.
Eight WA furniture makers are represented on the mission, which aims to showcase jarrah, marri and she-oak furniture to Korean retailers.
The Deputy Premier said WA wood and wooden furniture was seen as a quality timber from a resource managed in an environmentally sustainable way.
