Education and Training Minister Ljiljanna Ravlich today announced that the Kim Beazley School in White Gum Valley would be relocated from 2008 to provide students with better educational opportunities.
Ms Ravlich said the school would close at the end of the 2007.
"The Kim Beazley School is at the end of its operational life and would require a considerable upgrade to bring it up to an acceptable standard," she said.
"It is also located in an area that has an ageing population."
The 35 primary school students would attend the new facilities on the Beeliar Primary School site and 25 secondary students will go to the new Atwell High School.
"The existing two-storey school building cannot accommodate students in wheelchairs, or students with severe disabilities," the Minister said.
"Planning for the replacement schools is well under way.
"The Beeliar and Atwell communities have been consulted and are expecting that new specialist facilities will be built to accommodate students from Kim Beazley School.
"During the community consultation, a number of people asked that the old school's name be incorporated in the new facilities and this will be done."
Ms Ravlich said the Gallop Government was committed to improving the quality of education for all students.
"We are putting our election promises into action," she said.
"Education and Training took up a quarter of this year's State Budget - that is how committed we are to equipping Western Australians for the boom ahead.
"We have set ourselves the ambitious plan to build 39 school worth $400million. We will spend a further $300million on upgrading existing schools and another $300million for school maintenance."
