Track relocation work for the future Greenwood Station gets under way next week.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the track relocation meant the line would be closed between Stirling and Whitfords from 3am on Saturday, July 26 until 4am on Monday, July 28.
A replacement bus service (number 404) between Stirling and Whitfords would operate from the red rail replacement stops in accordance with the train timetable, but passengers using the replacement bus service should allow extra travelling time.
Ms MacTiernan said tenders for construction of the Greenwood Station would be called in September.
"The contract will be awarded late this year with construction due to start in January next year," she said.
"The station will be completed in time for the start of services to Clarkson in September, 2004.
"Once Greenwood opens, commuters will be able to travel on the first group of new electric trains which begin arriving in Perth at the end of March, 2004, and progressively go into service from September."
Ms MacTiernan said preliminary work - the erection of masts to accommodate the track relocation - had been taking place over the past couple of weeks.
This work had been done at night so as not to disrupt train services on the Currambine line.
