'Busy Bee' funding for Lake Monger/Wembley schools
Lake Monger and Wembley primary schools are among hundreds of schools to receive funding for busy bees under an innovative State Government grants program.
Education Minister Kay Hallahan said the program aimed to encourage parent participation in school improvement projects.
Mrs Hallahan said the program - renewed in the 1992-93 State Budget - was part of the Lawrence Government's unprecedented $75 million, two-year school improvement program.
"Many parents donate their time and labour to special projects at their local school and the grants contribute to the cost of materials," Mrs Hallahan said.
Parents at Lake Monger PS received the maximum grant of $1,500 to install reverse-cycle air conditioning in the school library/resource centre.
Wembley PS received $1,500 towards the construction of a school canteen.
