Accommodation offered to Tambellup group

"The scheme is one that will not only help KAL Services, but improvements to the property will also benefit the wider Tambellup community," he said.

The State Government has offered to assist the Tambellup community group, KAL Services, in the development of its training programs for members of the region's Aboriginal community.

Housing Minister Jim McGinty has written to KAL Services offering to provide a Homeswest property in the town for use by the group.

"The house is at 27 Crawford Road and due to acts of vandalism, requires a fair amount of restoration work," Mr McGinty said.

"KAL Services provides training for Aboriginal people in the building trades and it is envisaged that the group could use the property in Crawford Street as part of its program."

Mr McGinty said it was proposed that the property would be leased to KAL Services by the Aboriginal Housing Board at a peppercorn rental.

The Minister said the proposal had received strong support from the Shire of Tambellup.

"The scheme is one that will not only help KAL Services, but improvements to the property will also benefit the wider Tambellup community," he said.

"KAL Services is doing excellent work in the Tambellup region and the State Government is keen to acknowledge its efforts through initiatives such as the provision of a Homeswest property."
