Police Minister Graham Edwards said today it was imperative that Independent MLC Reg Davies produce hard evidence to substantiate his reasons for wanting a special committee to investigate activities within the Western Australian police force.

Police Minister Graham Edwards said today it was imperative that Independent MLC Reg Davies produce hard evidence to substantiate his reasons for wanting a special committee to investigate activities within the Western Australian police force.

"The issues raised by Mr Davies in his notice of motion yesterday are serious and, at the same time, damaging to the police service and to the morale of its officers," Mr Edwards said.

"If Mr Davies fails to produce hard evidence to support his action he will be seen to be politically posturing at the expense of Western Australian police officers."
