Ernesto Sirolli to help Kalgoorlie-Boulder enterprise centre
Well-known enterprise expert Mr Ernesto Sirolli will assist Kalgoorlie-Boulder's new local enterprise centre in its first months of operation.
Mr Sirolli is a consultant to Deputy Premier Ian Taylor.
Mr Taylor said today he had offered the services of Mr Sirolli, who developed and piloted Western Australia's first local enterprise program in Esperance from 1985.
"Mr Sirolli's approach to local economic development, based on 'facilitating' the development of good individual ideas into viable businesses has since been embraced by numerous Government departments, both at State and Federal level," Mr Taylor said.
"His work at Esperance during the 1980s inspired the employment of facilitators in 21 locations in WA and more than 150 throughout Australia and New Zealand.
"It also led to the establishment in WA of the rural innovation centre and the State enterprise centre.
"This year, more than 900 jobs have been created in WA alone as a direct result of the assistance that facilitators have given to rural entrepreneurs."
Kalgoorlie-Boulder's local enterprise initiatives committee earlier this month appointed Mr William Robinson and Mr David Knop as business consultants and facilitators for the new local enterprise centre, located in the Boulder Town Hall in Burt Street.
"The committee has requested that Mr Sirolli spend some time next month with the two appointees, helping them to become oriented in their new positions," Mr Taylor said.
