The Government has approved funding of $150,000 over three years for maintenance work on the Midland enterprise centre.

The Minister Assisting the Minister for State Development, Gordon Hill, who is also the Member for Helena, said the funding would be paid in lots of $50,000.

A new 20-year lease would be drawn up to transfer future responsibility for capital works and maintenance to the lessee, the Eastern Region business enterprise and arts centre.

Mr Hill said the lease arrangement would comprise an initial five-year lease with an option for three more of the same period.

"The enterprise centre has an important place in the local community," Mr Hill said.

"That is why the Government is keen to ensure it is maintained so the community can continue to benefit from its activities."
