Hyden/East Narrogin schools to keep demountable classrooms
Education Minister Kay Hallahan has agreed to allow demountable class-rooms to remain at Hyden and East Narrogin primary schools until the end of 1992.
Mrs Hallahan said, after meeting delegations of parents from both schools, she had decided to reverse a Ministry of Education decision to remove the class-rooms.
"Representatives of both schools put good arguments for the class-rooms to remain and alternative arrangements were able to be made for the schools which were to receive the demountable rooms," she said.
The Minister has also agreed that planning work should begin on a proposal for an undercover assembly area at East Narrogin primary school so it can be considered in the 1992-93 State budget.
She said the Education Ministry would also hold talks with the Shire of Kondinin and the Hyden school community on the possibility of a jointly funded library and resource centre at the school.
