Local govt video to attract SE trade
Four local authorities in Perth's south east metropolitan region have combined in a campaign to attract investment and open up trade opportunities with South East Asia.
The Cities of Gosnells, Belmont, Armadale and Canning have jointly produced a video which will be distributed to potential investors.
Launching the video at the City of Belmont today, Employment and Training Minister Kay Hallahan - who is also local MLC - said the campaign was a unique initiative to stimulate economic growth at a local level.
"The video highlights the great business and lifestyle opportunities available in the south east metropolitan region. For instance, there are world-class sporting facilities, thriving commercial and industry centres, attractive residential areas, and there is ready access to the airports," she said.
"By taking steps to boost economic activity, the local authorities will also advance social development through the generation of employment and provision of more community facilities."
Mrs Hallahan is chair of the South East Metropolitan Local Authorities Group - involving the four authorities - which has worked for seven years to develop the economic and social infrastructure of the region.
