A new series of corporate licence plates commemorating the West Coast Eagles AFL victory are expected to sell like hot cakes, according to Sport and Recreation Minister Graham Edwards.

A new series of corporate licence plates commemorating the West Coast Eagles AFL victory are expected to sell like hot cakes, according to Sport and Recreation Minister Graham Edwards.

The blue and white plates carry the Eagles' logo set between the number 92 and the registration number.

Across the bottom of the plates are the words 'West Coast Eagles AFL Premiers 1992.'

Mr Edwards said 899 of the 1,000 plates would be sold for $300 a set.

"So that everyone has an equal chance to get a plate we will be holding a ballot, details of which will be advertised in tomorrow's (Monday) 'The West Australian'," Mr Edwards said.

Of the remaining 101 plates, 76, including one carrying the prized registration number AFL 92, will be sold by tender. The remaining 25 plates will be presented to the Eagles to dispose of how they wish.

Mr Edwards said half the proceeds would be spent on community policing activities and the rest would go to Police Licensing and Services.

"The corporate plate initiative has already helped fund a considerable number of community policing activities in recent years," Mr Edwards said.

"It is a great way of using the success of teams like the Eagles and the Wildcats to benefit disadvantaged kids and other potential juvenile offenders."
