Official opening of Armadale school facilities
Education Minister Kay Hallahan today officially opened Armadale Senior High School's new administration facilities and staff room.
Speaking at the opening, Mrs Hallahan said the $970,000 project provided modern, spacious facilities including a reception area, general office, storage area, bookstore and offices for the principal, two deputy principals and registrar.
A new staff room with conference area and staff toilets were also provided.
The Minister said the old administration block had been converted to an interview room, and offices for a guidance officer, youth education officer and Year staff.
"The upgrade reflects the Government's commitment to bring the facilities of older schools up to the standard of new schools," she said.
"In the Government's education and training blueprint 'Foundations for the Future', $125 million was committed for this purpose over the next five years."
Mrs Hallahan said work on the administration block followed the 1989 upgrade of the Home Economics area at a cost of $300,000.
She said Armadale Senior High School opened in 1953 and today had nearly 1,000 students and 74 teachers.
