Official opening of Beaumaris primary school
Education Minister Kay Hallahan today officially opened Beaumaris Primary School in Perth's fast growing north western suburbs.
Mrs Hallahan said the school - current population 241 - was expected to reach 500 students as the economy recovered and local housing developments got underway.
The $3.2 million school was formerly known as North Ocean Reef Primary School but the name was changed following representations from parents.
"The school is most impressive and comprises an administration block and twelve teaching areas, one of which has the pre-primary centre attached," Mrs Hallahan said.
"The specialist services block incorporates a library, and a music and art/craft area."
Other facilities at the school included a covered assembly area, canteen, play areas, hard courts and an oval.
Mrs Hallahan also launched the school logo, motto and song. The motto was 'The future lies in us'.
"In its very short history, Beaumaris has already made great strides in developing links with neighbouring schools and the wider community," she said.
"Sharing the school oval with other community groups is an important way of building the spirit of community and co-operation."
