Starting with the United Nations-sanctioned International Day of People with Disability today, the rest of the week celebrates the achievements and contributions of people with disability and promotes the importance of communities that are inclusive and accessible for all Western Australians.
The McGowan Government is committed to supporting initiatives such as Disability Awareness Week which empower people with disability to achieve their goals.
Comments attributed to Disability Services Minister Stephen Dawson:
"Disability Awareness Week is a valuable opportunity to enhance our understanding of what it means for a community to be truly inclusive while also celebrating the contributions of people with disability.
"Events held during the week are a great way for community groups, disability sector organisations and local councils to engage with the whole community and showcase opportunities available to people with disability.
"I encourage everyone to get involved and enjoy some of the events and activities on offer in their local area."
