- Premier hosts fifth of a series of Industry Engagement Consortiums to strengthen working relationships between industry and government to create jobs
- Aquaculture provides the strongest opportunity to boost employment in WA's seafood industry
Premier Mark McGowan and Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly will join home-grown and national stakeholders today for the latest of the McGowan Government's Industry Engagement Consortiums.
The Aquaculture Industry Engagement Consortium will focus on how local aquaculture operations can take advantage of the rising global demand for quality seafood products.
The consortiums enable industry stakeholders to provide important feedback on the McGowan Government's key election commitments, and outcomes will feed into future decision-making.
Western Australia's aquaculture industry has the potential to create and support up to 8,000 direct and indirect jobs over the next 10 years.
That is why the McGowan Government is investing in the sector, recently announcing $1 million for the fish health laboratories facility at Watermans Bay and establishing the Mid-West aquaculture zone.
