Cahoots team takes the Plunge for charity
- Central Park Plunge raised more than $550,000 for WA charities last year
Disability Services Minister Stephen Dawson has today joined dozens of other daring Western Australians to abseil 220 metres down the side of Central Park building, on St Georges Terrace, one of Perth's tallest buildings.
The annual Central Park Plunge is one of the largest charity abseil events to be held in a central business district, and this year about 300 participants took part to support a range of organisations.
Mr Dawson participated in the 2018 Plunge in support of Cahoots, a local non-profit organisation that provides opportunities for young people living with disability.
Cahoots is funded through the Department of Communities, Disability Services to provide camps for children and young people with disability.
It is also registered to deliver individually funded social, recreational and respite services to people with disability and their families in the NDIS.
The Cahoots team provides over 4,000 exciting and rewarding camping nights, and a range of programs for the young and young at heart living with disability.
The Plunge is the key annual fundraising event for Cahoots, which is aiming to raise $70,000 to provide recreational opportunities for 13 individuals over one year.
The Central Park Plunge raised more than $550,000 for WA charities in 2017.
