Designs for a new $5 million building at Bunbury Senior High School were unveiled today by Premier Mark McGowan, giving the community a first glimpse of what their new building will look like.

Making use of the school's coastal location, Bunbury-based architect Kent Lyon designed the multi-level building which will be sited on a steep hill overlooking the ocean. The building will also provide improved access between the administration block above and gymnasium and playing fields below.

The new building, an important election commitment of the McGowan Labor Government, will house staff amenities on the first floor, while the second floor will provide two multipurpose classrooms and an open activity space.

A student cafeteria will lead from the third floor and connect with the existing quadrangle of the administration block, providing seamless access between these key areas.

As part of the project, accessibility in and around the new building will be greatly improved. The building itself is set to have both stair and elevator access, and new pathways and steps will provide better connections from the school to the gymnasium and playing fields.

Construction is expected to start in early 2019, with completion scheduled for late 2019.
