Historic election of first female Legislative Council President

Premier Mark McGowan today congratulated the Honourable Kate Doust, Member for South Metropolitan Region, on her election as the first female President of the Legislative Council.
Ms Doust was elected unopposed in the first sitting of the new Legislative Council.
First elected to State Parliament in 2001, Ms Doust has held various Parliamentary Secretary and Shadow Minister roles and sat on multiple Parliamentary Committees.
The appointment of Ms Doust follows the election of the Honourable Sue Ellery MLC as the first female Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council.
