People with disability living in the Lower South West will have better access to locally delivered services with Senses Australia opening a new office in Margaret River today.

Established in 1895, Senses Australia is a not-for-profit organisation providing a range of disability support services to Western Australians. The organisation is a registered NDIS provider and receives State Government funding via the Department of Communities, Disability Services.

Senses Australia's Margaret River office will provide a comprehensive therapy service to people with disability and their families, including speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology and social work.

The facility comprises two therapy rooms, a kitchenette and a large sensory room that includes swings, scooter ramps and balance beams. It is located in the Margaret River township, close to both the primary and senior high schools.

Comments attributed to Disability Services Minister Stephen Dawson:

"Senses Australia has been providing disability services to Western Australians for more than 120 years. Every day, they support people with disability to gain the skills and confidence required to live a full life.

"The organisation was one of the first disability service providers to begin operating in the Lower South West, as part of the NDIS trial when it commenced in 2014. They have played a crucial role in providing a range of therapy services to people with disability living in the region.

"As the demand for quality services in the Lower South West grows, Senses Australia's new office in Margaret River will help ensure people with disability and their families receive the support they need, right here in their local community."
