Peel region benefits from job-creating investments

The McGowan Labor Government is delivering for Murray-Wellington, Mandurah and surrounding precincts with significant investment in job-creating projects, education, health and community services.

Premier Mark McGowan visited the Peel region today to affirm the State Government's continued support and commitment to regional Western Australia.

Visiting budding hubs including Pinjarra and Mandurah, the Premier met with community members to discuss important issues in their local areas.

As one of the nine regions in Western Australia, Peel is about 75 kilometres south of the State's capital and is the fastest growing region.

To attract more visitors to the region, Peel will share in $27.9 million in tourism funding to showcase regional destinations with a focus on increasing visitation to the State's destination hotspots and creating more local jobs for the areas. 

The McGowan Labor Government's Plan for Jobs is underway with $55.5 million for local projects including the development of Nambeelup and Kemerton and Shotts Industrial Park to stimulate more opportunities and diversify the economy.

To further support new and emerging businesses in the region, $4.5 million has been dedicated for the New Industries Fund which provides essential funding to give start-ups and upcoming industries a much-needed boost.

There is a total of $4 billion in Royalties for Regions expenditure across the State, with a focus on creating jobs and projects that really matter to people in regional WA.

"As an art enthusiast, I'm particularly keen to see the roll out of more touring art exhibitions, which will be boosted with $8 million in funding over the next six years. This is important in ensuring people living outside of the metropolitan region have increased access to culture and the arts."
