- Collection features three of Australia's native animals on precious metal coins
Premier Mark McGowan today unveiled The Perth Mint's $1.8 million one of a kind Australian Trilogy coin collection.
The collection is comprised of three coins struck from gold, platinum and rose gold, each featuring an iconic Australian native animal.
It is the world's first coin collection to incorporate pink and violet diamonds, sourced from Rio Tinto's Argyle diamond mine.
Gold is Western Australia's third biggest export industry and the State's 40 regional gold mines produce more than 70 per cent of Australia's gold.
The Perth Mint has been operating since 1899 and is a popular tourist attraction, with 70,000 people visiting the gold exhibition in the 2016 financial year.
The collection is open for public viewing at The Perth Mint's Hay Street retail store until the end of June.
