Construction on the second stage of Aspiri Primary School in the fast-growing suburb of Piara Waters is well underway, as part of the McGowan Labor Government's $468.7 million investment in schools across Western Australia.

The school opened this year for pre-primary and kindergarten students, and will next year open for students in Years 1 to 6.

Students at the $17 million primary school will learn in new and modern facilities which will include an administration area, library resource centre, conference room, canteen, music room, assembly area, art room, hard courts, an oval, and parking for staff and parents.

The school will accommodate 540 students and will help relieve enrolment pressure from nearby Harrisdale Primary School and Piara Waters Primary School.

The building company undertaking the works is PACT Construction and the architect is Oldfield Knott Architects.

A further $153.6 million has been allocated over the period of 2018-19 to 2021-22 to build new primary schools. Construction will also continue at three other new primary schools in the booming outer suburbs - Aveley North Primary School, Oakwood Primary School and Southern Grove Primary School.

As part of the State Budget, construction of new primary schools, at a total cost of $74.5 million, will begin at:

  • Baldivis North ($16.3 million);
  • Banksia Grove East ($18.8 million) with early childhood facilities ($3.2 million);
  • Byford South East ($18.9 million); and
  • Caversham South ($17.3 million).
